#SparkLabQM Terms of Use

By using the event hashtag #SparkScientistQM on your submitted photo or photos, you authorise Queensland Museum to usage of that particular image/s and/or footage for national and international application for an unlimited period and you agree to the Competition Conditions of Entry below. Each entrant confirms that anyone depicted in the tagged photo has given their permission for the inclusion of their image in the #SparkLabQM promotion. By submitting your image using the hashtag #SparkLabQM you are automatically in the draw to win one of four Family Annual Passes which includes two VIP visits to SparkLab.


Conditions of Entry

  1. By entering the competition by using the hashtag #SparkLabQM, entrants agree to the conditions of entry.
  2. Queensland Museum is a campus of the Queensland Museum Network.
  3. The Promoter is Queensland Museum, Corner Grey and Melbourne Streets South Brisbane Qld 4101 ABN: 91 522 611 802.
  4. If an entrant is under the age of 18 years, the entrant must have permission to enter the competition from a parent or legal guardian who is 18 years or over. 
  5. Entry is only open to Australian residents. 
  6. To enter: take a photo, boomerang/gif or video documenting your time in SparkLab, Sciencentre and upload to social media (Instagram, Twitter or Facebook) with the hashtag #SparkLabQM.
  7. The promotion period commences at 9.30am on Wednesday 26 September 2018 and closes at 5.00pm on Thursday 31 January 2019. Winners will be contacted directly via the social media channel of their entry.
  8. Each of the four winners will receive: 1) One year family Annual Pass (2 adults and 2 children) to SparkLab, Sciencentre. 2) Two VIP SparkLab visits accompanied by a SparkLab learning officer during the membership, which may be photographed and/or filmed for the promotion of SparkLab.
  9. Offensive content as deemed by the Promoter will not be permitted as an entry.
  10. Entrants may submit as many entries as they wish but no entrant may win more than one prize.
  11. The Promoter reserves the right to: 1) verify the validity of entries, 2) disqualify an entrant for submitting an entry that is not in accordance with the conditions of entry; 3) accept or reject any entry in its sole discretion.
  12. Prize winners will be chosen at random by a representative of Queensland Museum from the pool of entrants. The draw will take place at 9.30am Friday 1 February 2019 following the closure of the submission period.
  13. The winners and chosen participants will be notified by their chosen social media platform of entry within 7 working days of the close date. 
  14. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  15. Prizes are not exchangeable or transferable. If the prize or any part of the prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Promoter’s control, the Promoter will endeavour but is not obliged to provide a substitute prize of equivalent value.The prizes are not redeemable for cash.
  16. In the event that the winner cannot be contacted within 10 working days from initial contact, a replacement winner will be chosen by a representative of Queensland Museum and the original winner will forfeit any and all right to the prize.
  17. The entrant grants the Promoter the right to use their name, biographical information, likeness and statements for use in marketing, promotional and educational activities associated with the competition.
  18. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents, affiliates or representatives will not be liable for any late, lost or misdirected entries.
  19. The Promoter and their associated agencies and companies will take no responsibility for the prize or entries being damaged, late, or lost.
  20. The Promoter and any contractors, employees and agents associated with both organisations, will not be liable for claims, losses, damages, injuries, costs and expenses suffered, sustained or incurred (including but not limited to indirect/inconsequential loss) as a result of, arising out of, or in any way connected with the competition and/or its prize, except for liability that cannot be excluded by law.
  21. The competition will be governed by the laws of Queensland.

Privacy notice

Queensland Museum will collect the entrants’ social media handle in order to conduct the competition and notify the winners and chosen entries to feature in the gallery. Entrants agree to be contacted by the Promoter in relation to the competition. Entrants who agree to be contacted by the Promoter may be contacted via social media. Queensland Museum adheres to a strict privacy policy. For publicity purposes Queensland Museum may use the names and if applicable, image of the winners and persons accompanying the winners.
